PIANO COMPETITION

The East Bay Music Festival Solo Piano Competition has been an annual event for over 40 years. It offers musicians a chance to compete by age group for cash awards. The Competition auditions, in recital format, are open to the public. With the exception of Honorable Mention recipients, all prize winners must perform in the Winners Concert in order to receive their monetary awards. ​
2020 ​Information

Competition Dates:
  • Saturday, March 21, 2020:  ​Age Divisions II and IV
  • Sunday, March 22, 2020: Age Divisions I and III
Where: Berkeley Piano Club (2724 Haste Street)
Winners Concert date: Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 2:00pm

Please note two major changes for 2020: 
1. The age division recitals now have a pre-set day. 
2. T
he Piano Technicians Guild Contemporary Music Prizes will be replaced by the following Piano Technicians Guild Special Prizes:
  • Primary I and Primary II Division: "Best Performance of Mozart" Prize
  • Junior III and Senior IV Divisions: "Best Performance of Chopin" Prize

Please pay after you have submitted your application.  The application is complete only after the entry fee is received.

IMPORTANT: Please read the competition rules carefully before submitting your repertoire, as they change from year to year.
